The best plant based pre-flavoured meat replacements.
This is a list of the best pre-flavoured plant based meat substitutes available, for when you don’t want to do the seasoning yourself! Vivera and Oomph both make a strong showing in this category—we think they might’ve found their corner of the market! We have ranked these substitutes, as always, on taste, texture, value for money and our PBFG Feel-Good Factor!
1.) Plant Power, Tempeh pieces curry flavoured
we believe this is one of the best meat replacement products available for use on a salad. we don't buy tempeh all that often, but this pre-flavoured product regularly ends up in our shopping trolly. The curry flavouring they have concocted is phenomenal. We like to sear the pieces in a hot pan and serve on top of a bed of green leaves and other fresh veggies.

2.) Vivera, Plant shawarma kebab
This is just such a unique product. You'll struggle to find many better options for a lunch time wrap. You simply pour this product out into a pan with some hot olive oil and serve it in a wrap with any salad you would like. You don't need to add any flavouring. Just fry it crispy and enjoy. It's only let down by the plastic tray and the fact that it only feels like one serving.

3.) Vivera, Plant Greek style kebab
Very similar to Vivera’s shawarma style kebab really, but the shape is somehow slightly less satisfying. That said, Vivera really excel with these small pre-packaged, and pre-flavoured chicken replacements. It has such an interesting an enjoyable texture when cooked crispy, and a great flavour. We love it. It works especially well in wraps and on salads.

4.) Oumph!, Tandoori chunk
This product tastes absolutely delicious. In fact, purely on taste alone, Oumph! Tandoori chunk might be the best pre-flavoured chicken substitute we have tried yet. We had it fried crispy on a salad, but we are sure it would be phenomenal used within an actual curry too. The only thing letting it down is the high salt content and the plastic packaging.

5.) Oumph!, Kebab döner style
One of the nicest meat replacements I've ever had. It's just like the real thing. Shame about the nutrition and packaging. I'm afraid it is not healthy. Totally tanked its Feel-Good Factor. Oumph! have clearly gone for taste, texture and similarity to the real thing over nutrition. And do you know what? I'm okay with it! Not very versatile as it is a Doner meat replacement - still you could have it hot or cold happily.

6.) Vivera, Plant tex mex strips
Very much in the same vein as Vivera's kebab replacements, but just not as good. Perhaps it's because they are more unusual, but the shawarma and greek style kebab pieces taste fresh and exciting while the Tex Mex is juts a little boring. The pieces feel soft and squishy too.

7.) Oumph!, Korean BBQ chunk
It's a fairly tasty product, but pales in comparison to Oumph!’s tandoori chunk. The actual meat substitute is a pretty standard rubbery chicken replacement, which you notic more with the weaker taste. If you want a BBQ flavoured meal this will work, but combining your favourite BBQ sauce with your favourite meat substitute might be a better option. They have a pretty high salt content, but with negligible fat at least.

8.) Oumph!, Kebab spiced
Falsely advertised as ‘spiced’, these kebab piece were a bit meh. This is espcially disappointing when compared to Oumph!’s döner meat product, which is a flavour sensation! We think there are better pre-flavoured meat replacements out there (see Vivera) that can be kept in the fridge or frozen (rather than coming frozen) and come in recyclable packaging. Certainly not bad though.
